The MagBak Elite keeps making my top case picks because its features earn their place in everyday use. The finger loop is something I use every day, the magnet system opens up useful mounting options, and it’s one of the most comfortable cases I’ve held.
It was my most-used case on the iPhone Air. On the iPhone 18 Pro Max, the same combination of comfort, protection, and utility makes a strong case for keeping it in my rotation. There is one thing I’d change, though: the material.

My quick verdict: a top utility case with one personal drawback
If you want your iPhone case to help you hold, mount, and prop up your phone, the MagBak Elite is an easy one for me to recommend considering. It checks almost all my judging points: a useful finger loop, tactile buttons, protection, comfort, and good magnets.
What I like: the soft finger loop, comfortable Pinky Pillow, versatile magnets, built-in kickstand, and interchangeable color accents.
What I’d change: the rubbery, plastic-like feel. It’s soft to the touch, but I prefer leather, cloth, or wood textures.
Best fit: someone who values everyday function and a secure, comfortable grip.

The finger loop is the feature I use every day
A long feature list only matters if you actually use what’s on it. The finger loop is the clearest example of that for me.
It’s soft and practical, and it gives me a more secure way to hold the phone without constantly gripping its sides. On a phone as large as the Pro Max, that extra point of support is welcome. When I’m finished, the loop stows back into the case.
The Pinky Pillow adds to that comfort. If you support the bottom of your phone with your pinky, you’ll understand the appeal of having a softer place for it to rest. Together, the loop, cushion, and soft finish make this one of the most comfortable cases I’ve held.

The magnets are useful beyond a standard MagSafe setup
The magnet system is another reason this case stays near the top of my list. The appeal goes beyond attaching a MagSafe accessory: it gives me more places to put the phone.
Compatible fridge surfaces, metal posts, and suitable metal surfaces on parked vehicles can become convenient mounting spots. Surface material and finish matter, so I check the hold before letting go; not every metal surface is magnetic.
Three situations make the benefit especially clear:
Following recipes: keep your phone at eye level on a compatible fridge rather than laying it on a busy counter.
Referencing instructions: position the screen where you can glance at it while keeping your hands free.
Creating content: use a suitable surface to position the phone for filming yourself when you don’t want to set up a tripod.
That flexibility is what makes the system better for my use than relying only on a standard MagSafe ring and a separate magnetic mount. It’s also MagSafe compatible for the accessories you already use.
A built-in kickstand adds another hands-free option
When there isn’t a suitable magnetic surface nearby, the kickstand gives the phone another way to stand on its own. It’s a useful option for watching something or keeping the screen visible on a desk.
I like that it’s already part of the case. I don’t have to decide whether to bring another accessory just to prop up my phone. The loop, magnets, and stand each solve a different everyday problem.
Protection and tactile buttons without an overly bulky feel
The Elite has raised edges around the screen and camera area, along with reinforced corners. Those are details I look for in a protective case, especially on a large phone.
What stands out is the balance. For everything built into it, the case still feels relatively thin to me. That doesn’t mean it’s an ultra-thin shell; it means the extra utility doesn’t make it feel unnecessarily bulky in my hand.
The buttons feel tactile, too. Button feel can get overlooked in a feature list, but it’s something you notice every time you use the phone.
Black, Burgundy, and Beige: my custom color combinations
The interchangeable accents are a big part of the Elite’s personality. You can change the buttons and camera frame instead of being locked into a single look.
Black with black accents
For the matte black phone, I went with a Black case and black accents. It’s the stealthiest setup of the three, and the one to choose if you want a more understated look.
Burgundy with orange accents
This is the combination that stands out most to me. The official case name is Burgundy, but I think it favors the purple side. Pairing it with orange makes the camera frame and finger loop pop.
Beige with navy and light blue accents
The Beige case gives the blue accents a lighter backdrop. It’s a very different look from the all-black setup, even though it’s the same case design.
There are plenty of accent options to explore. The useful part is being able to make the case look more like something you chose, rather than simply taking the default combination.
My main complaint is the material
The finish is soft to the touch, and that contributes to the comfort I like. But the rubbery, plastic-like feel isn’t my favorite texture.
I gravitate toward leather, cloth, and wood. If you feel the same way, the Elite’s material may be the compromise you make to get its built-in features. For me, the daily usefulness is strong enough that I keep coming back anyway.
Is the MagBak Elite worth considering?
Yes, especially if you’ll use the finger loop and magnetic mounting regularly. Those features give this case a clear purpose in my setup.
If all you want is a particular premium material, it may not be the best match for your taste. But if you want protection, a comfortable grip, a kickstand, and mounting flexibility in one case, the MagBak Elite deserves a spot on your shortlist.
That’s why it consistently makes my top picks. The feature I use most is the finger loop, but the whole package is what keeps it in my rotation.
