ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2 Combo Review: A Good First 3D Printer?

The little boat in my review came off the printer in three colors. For someone new to 3D printing, that was the payoff I was looking for: making something I could actually hold. A few projects in, my family was already thinking about what to print next.

Is the ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2 Combo a good first 3D printer? Setup was easy for me to follow, and starting prints from my phone became one of my favorite features. There’s still plenty to learn, but I could get started without figuring everything out first.

What setup felt like as a beginner

I followed the instructions one step at a time, and the setup made sense to me. Automatic calibration and bed leveling took a couple of unfamiliar steps off my plate. In the video, I show what it looks like to start a print from my phone using the ELEGOO Matrix app.

What three-color printing actually looks like

For the multicolor demo, I used CANVAS to print a small test boat called a Benchy. Watch the dark hull, white body, and tan roof take shape on the same print. The Centauri Carbon 2 Combo includes CANVAS and supports up to four colors. I used three for this boat.

How loud is the Centauri Carbon 2 Combo?

I kept the printer’s operating sound in the video because it’s something I’d want to hear before deciding where to put one. The audio was recorded close to the machine, so it’s a sample of what it sounds like up close. Your room and distance will affect how loud it sounds to you.

Hear the printer running around 1:40.

Would I start with it again?

Yes. It feels like a quality printer, the setup was easy for me to understand, and printing from the app made me want to try more projects. I’m still learning what makes a good print, and it’s been fun learning alongside my family.
