Huawei Mate 9 announced - big display, Leica camera tech, and more!

The Huawei Mate 9 was announced and let the world know of the next generation of Mates. The Huawei Mate 9 has many top specs and boasts the camera. Just looking at the device from the event and other posts, the large screen is intriguing. It reminds me of the Nexus 6's giant display and how cumbersome it was to handle. However, the Mate 9 doesn't seem to have much of bezel and should help reduce strain handling the device. Apart from the huge size of the screen, which I like, the rest of the phone looks promising as ever.Huawei Mate 9

Huawei Mate 9 Thoughts

Huawei has come out with some amazing devices the last few years. The Nexus 6P remains to be one of my top favorite phones of all time, along with the Honor 8. I've not had the chance to use a Mate device and I am hoping to get my hands on one soon. The Mate 9 will be first available to the Chinese market and is said to make it to the USA in a few months.I'm most excited to try the camera. Being partnered with Leica makes this very interesting because of the quality Leica produces. It's very cool to see such tech be integrated with smartphones.Huawei Mate 9EMUI 5.0 was announced along with the Mate 9 promising to match what users want from a smartphone experience. Personally, I am not fond of the UI EMUI has produced, but I appreciate the practical features it offers. The only draw back potentially is the display is just at 1080p. 1080p is considered old tech at this point and usually installed on low cost devices. So I am curious if the screen will look good, visible in daylight, etc. Granted many 1080p displays if done right, look just fine. Can't wait to use one hopefully soon!
