Google X team - first up from Alphabet

By George Hayes

Alphabet (1)The Life Sciences Team of Google X are the first to be announced as a company under the new Alphabet umbrella of Google.Google Life Sciences TeamYou may have heard that this group is the one that has been working on smart contact lenses that would measure glucose levels through tears for people with diabetes. One person in every 19 on Earth suffers from diabetes, so this product would be a boon to society, IMHO. This project is just one of a number of others intended to better people’s lives. Other examples are a nono-diagnostics platform, the Baseline Study (intending to give the most complete picture of the human body ever created through genomic and molecular data collection) , etc.andrew-conradThe new company, yet to be named, was announced by Sergey Brin, Google co-founder, who would only say that its mission was to develop new technologies that would make healthcare more proactive. Brin named Andy Conrad, project manager of Google X, as the new company’s CEO.google-alphabet-fullsizeNo more information was forthcoming from Google, but the fact that this first separate company under Alphabet has been announced shows that Google is moving ahead with the plan and that the Life Sciences Team may actually produce a real consumer product in the near future. To me, this is another example of Google’s commitment to using its wealth for things other than just profit. Namely, bettering lives.  Yes, Google knows how to make tons of money, but few seem to look at the caring for others side, even though the projects are there for all to see. Just my opinion.Source: GizmodoThanks for taking the time to read this post and we sincerely hope you found it helpful and enjoyable!
