Etekcity RoverBeats T16 Ultra Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

Bluetooth speakers are one of the top essential portable device accessories that every household should have. Often I think that these little guys are overlooked. Etekcity has a cool little bluetooth speaker called the RoverBeats T16. While this speaker is small, it actually packs a punch. I’ve used this speaker for about two weeks now and I have enjoyed using the speaker.

The majority of the time I used the speaker as my main computer speaker because I tend to use my computer area for most of my work these days with video editing, articles, and school work. This speaker performs just fine for those basic tasks. Granted for video editing it is best to use headphones, but this bluetooth speaker gets the job done for basic video editing. Most people are more than likely going to use a speaker like this for music though and I can’t really hold it against the speaker for not having the same quality as an Astro A40 headset. Regardless, this speaker is great for listening to music or using at an audio source for a computer. The sound does well for watching most YouTube videos or even casual games.

The RoverBeats says it has decent distance for being away from the speaker when connected to a bluetooth device such as a smartphone or tablet. However, if you need to use the speaker for a conference call/speaker call you will need to have your voice at a relatively close range around 2-3 feet so the other person on the other end of the call can hear you clearly. In a test call I had the speaker about 4 feet away and the caller had me repeat myself quite a few times and I can’t stand to repeat myself. To correct the issue I simply placed the speaker closer to and the problem was a better. I think the call quality needs a little work, but it is a decent option for voice calls.

The battery life is pretty good too and claims to last around 7 hours. Keep in mind the battery life will depend on how you use the device. In my experience the speaker lasted a few sessions of use in a couple of days. Not too shabby for a little speaker. Speaking about power, the kit includes what I like the refer to as the BlackBerry style USB cable connection. In other words it is not like what most devices use these days, which is the micro-usb cable for non-Apple related products. My suggestion for anyone who buys this speaker is to make sure not to lose the included cable because I seriously doubt many people have this sort of cable laying around anymore. If you do happened to lose it you can find cheap replacements on Amazon for about $5. Etekcity definitely needs to update the USB cable/connection to micro-usb.

As far as the sound sounds, the speaker is pretty good for the price and size. This only costs about $20 on Amazon making it a great gift for just about anyone that won’t break the bank. The highs and lows perform well, can get rather loud, and has easy connectivity via bluetooth or aux 3.5mm cable. Overall, I have enjoyed using the durable bluetooth speaker. There are some color options and comes with a cool little pouch that can be attached to a bag or belt.
