The CaseCrown Bold Standby is a leather flip cover case for the iPad mini. It is made with synthetic leather and soft interior. This case has a tri-fold flip cover giving two viewing angles when flip back. There are multiple colors to choose from and not to mention this case looks great.
I’ve got the orange color for this review and normally I would not choose orange for a color, but I was surprised how good looking the case is in this color. Lately, I have been into brighter colors, Android green being one of my favorite colors this year. This orange reminds me of the Texas Longhorns team color of the burnt orange look. What I like about this color is it is not too gaudy. The case while with a colorful effect still remains to feel like an sophisticated, professional style but is casual all at the same time.
Installation is a little different than your typical iPad case. There is a little velcro tab on the inside fastener that tucks away when the iPad is installed. After that part is done, things are back to normal.
Protection and functionality are top priority for this case as well. All the edges, front and back areas of the case are covered in some way. The screen bezel area of the iPad is all covered up. With all the protection all the button and ports remain accessible. The the case is closed the volume controls are little more hidden away than usual, but is not really an issue.
The only issue I came across while using this case was the camera cutout seemed to be a little off centered, but it just required me to move the iPad in a better position. Thus, it is more of a user error than the cases fault. In result, if you get this case make sure you line up the iPad and secure it in position with the velcro strap during installation.
Overall, this case is a stylish, casual, professional and protective case for the iPad mini. CaseCrown offers this same design for the big brother iPad too. Out of all the CaseCrown cases I have reviewed, this is my favorite to date. Best yet it is for a great low cost of around $12!
